Workout Creator FAQ
A quick guide to generating, editing, saving, and safely using workouts without turning the plan into a circus with dumbbells.
How should I start a new workout?
Start in Settings. Choose the goal, duration, body target, available equipment, and ability levels, then click Generate Workout. The builder creates a draft you can still edit before saving.
What does Generate Workout use?
It uses your workout settings, selected equipment, body target, muscle choices, profile context, and ability levels. Those settings help it pick exercises that better match your goal instead of throwing random movements into a gym-shaped hat.
Can I edit the generated workout?
Yes. You can rename sets, add exercises, remove exercises, replace exercises, change repeats, adjust breaks, and change prescriptions before saving. Generated workouts are starting drafts, not stone tablets.
Why do warm-ups and cool-downs look different from strength sets?
Warm-ups and cool-downs use different exercise goals from the taxonomy. Warm-ups prioritize useful core and preparation work, while cool-downs prioritize flexibility and stretches, so the beginning and end of the workout do their actual jobs.
How does the estimated duration work?
The estimate adds exercise prescriptions, repeated rounds, transitions, and round breaks. It is meant to get close to the selected duration, but real time can vary if you move faster, rest longer, or spend three minutes negotiating with a water bottle.
What do the ability sliders change?
The level sliders help guide exercise selection and prescription difficulty. Strength, cardio, core, and flexibility levels tell the generator where to be kinder, where to challenge you, and where not to get wildly ambitious.
How should I use equipment filters?
Use Include Selected when you only want exercises that match the equipment you checked. Use Exclude Selected when you want to block specific equipment while keeping the rest of the database available.
What happens when I save a workout?
Logged-in users save the workout to their account and can reopen it later from listings or the view page. Saving also keeps editable workout data so the owner or an editor can return to the builder and keep working.
Can I share a workout publicly?
Workouts can be listed publicly when their post status is public. Private workouts stay available to the owner and permitted editors, which is useful when the workout is still wearing draft socks.
Does this replace a coach or medical advice?
No. The workout creator is a planning and education tool. If you have injuries, medical conditions, pain, dizziness, unusual symptoms, pregnancy-related concerns, or rehab needs, use the workout as a draft and speak with a qualified professional.
